Teach For America 2014 Corps

@amk1107 Someone mentioned AUSL as a good program. I received an email from them a couple of years ago and it seems like a great program. For me, I chose not to apply because they required a crazy amount of documents to be eligible, especially if you’re certified in another state. I applied to this program called MATCH teacher residency in Boston. I didn’t get in, but I’m pretty sure it was because I didn’t follow directions more than my actual skillset. That program has you assume some roles as a teacher for a year. Mostly, you’ll be a tutor but you’ll be taking a large number of education courses to prepare you for your next year as a full fledged teacher. The school you work in is AMAZING. That was the best thing about the program for me. You get to work in an urban environment but you don’t encounter many of the behavioral issues other teachers have to. Check out those websites!

I was accepted for TFA last year with the junior application. I’m going to be in New Orleans! I think I find out subject and grade level with y’all. Can’t wait! Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone! I also applied, had my final interview and am anxiously awaiting. I feel as though my interview went really well, but I am still “under review” for TF. Hopefully I am not the only one freaking out about this :/

@letxgo - Out of curiosity, are your documents verified? I.e., Yes/No/NA

@somanybanelings: What post was that supposed to go to? It went to luvya’s, who was rejected.

Unfortunately I did not apply for TF and can not follow all the hints and clues you guys are looking for. I am going to wait to see if I am accepted and where before applying for TF. I put NYC and Boston as my top two locations and would love to teach either high school or middle school math.

I was wondering if any of you junior applicants who got accepted had their reference called. I heard from a 2013 accepted member that her reference was called and told that she made it to the corps they just had some mandatory questions… I am worried that my reference has not yet been contacted. The wait is killing me.

@somanybanelings- Nope, so I am definitely growing concerned.

@elemteacher - Dammit sorry. I found the wrong link but there was one individual who got in w/o changes. Just had documentation changes and “under review” the entire time but still got in. I’ll check again but I’m pretty sure I wasn’t mistaken on that.

@somanybanelings - No worries! I was just hoping that wasn’t the person you were talking about, since they hadn’t been accepted. Haha

@somanybanelings Who was it/what happened? I was looking last night at people whose documents changed/were asked for new documents. But they ALL changed to complete at some point before acceptance. I don’t see any instances in prior years for people whose documents were verified/were asked for new documents, and didn’t change to complete eventually, but there’s very few examples in the first place. All I could find got it, but all I could find also weren’t under review until acceptance. So I didn’t see much data on what many of us are experiencing this year.

@emac542 - Sorry I deleted that tab so I’m not sure who it was. I’m looking through TFA2013. I do recall TFA2012/2011 where people were accepted despite “UNDER REVIEW” but as you suggested, its probably that their status changed to “COMPLETE” on the day of and they simply posted their acceptance instead of clarifying. I’m going to spend a whole lot more time looking through TFA2012/2011 so I’ll update if/once I find those posts.

@somanybanelings- That just made me feel a lot better. My stuff is still under review, but I suddenly have these numbers in parentheses next to my student loan, etc, amounts. Fingers crossed!

@letxgo when did it change? It looks like theyre still reviewing apps right up til the end this year…

@TeachForChange- I have been checking on and off all day, and I just noticed it. So sometime within the last three hours.

I said I wouldn’t join, but here I am on the forum! Did anyone else not apply for TF and see any changes on their homepage? Is the unsubmit button officially gone from everyone’s assignment preference page?

@kittenlove- My unsubmit button was gone last week, I believe.

Anyone receive a note saying CGP on any of their documents?

Mine said that earlier but now it’s just blank. The status of the document went from Yes to N/A as well.

Question for everyone who went from Complete to Under Review, does your TF Status say “we have not yet reviewed your application or documents” despite all your documents being marked Yes/No/NA?

@TFAHopeful21

I feel like that’s just a default message that goes along with the Under Review Status because I got an email saying they reviewed my documents but there was an error in two of them. Right after I re submitted them, it went back to saying that they haven’t reviewed my applications despite the verification on most of my documents lol.

So I stumbled upon this site recently and have been lurking. I never really post on these things but have found this site to be helpful and decided to take the plunge.

I did apply for TF, I got an email saying I needed to send an more documentation etc etc. Did so went from Incomplete to Under Review. Then went from Under Review to Complete. Then changed back to Under Review. Everything else still says yes though.

@TFAhopeful21 I also have that same sentence as well.

I won’t go into my full experience yet but on Thursday will.

I probably won’t log back on until Thursday. I have a friend coming into town and I am really anxious already and while this has been helpful I know I need to focus. And since I don’t have class tomorrow I plan on not using my computer so I won’t be tempted.

I would like to teach History, Social Studies, or English in the South. Specifically Dallas. But all of my cities were Southern.

Keep the Faith everyone, it’s really the only thing keeping me sane right now.
