Teach For America 2014 Corps

@almostapostgrad–thanks for your response! This TF Status thing has me going so crazy I feel like I constantly double check myself to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating or something lol I’m like did mine really change to Complete before? haha

OMG I feel like an idiot. I have been paying so much attention to whether documents have been verified that I never noticed the amount in ( ). I wonder how long they have been there.

I am making a small appearance just to wish everyone good luck. This thread is pure insanity! lol. I applied for the third deadline but it feels like I’m am waiting for my final acceptance. I’ve been avidly following the theories and even checking last years thread. Hopefully I will make it to the final interview so that I may have the opportunity to obsess over TF changes and un-submit buttons.

TFA would be blessed to have any of you in their program, your seriousness about your acceptance shows how serious you all are about education reform! I wish all of you the best and hope that you continue to be passionate about this cause!

Hi Everyone! I have been lurking on this forum for quite sometime now. I kept holding off making an account so that I wouldnt obsess as much as I already was but I’m throwing in the towel with only 48 hours left.

I am from the Philadelphia region as well as some of you. I hope to stay in the area because my fiance already has a great job in the area and we are looking at buying a house in the next year. When I selected my regions I put in special circumstances based on my fiances location.

My interview was on 10/16.
I submitted my TF before the 11th. The status never changed from “Under Review” however:

“Documentation verifying current amount of Federal Student Loans ( xxxxx )”
“Documentation verifying current amount of Private Student Loans ( xxxx )”

Has the amount of my loans behind it which I dont think was there when I originally submitted the documents. My “unsubmit” button on my regions preference also disappeared sometime last week.

Not sure if any of this means anything but I figured I would put it out there for everyone to obsess over.

GAAAHHH we’re so close!!! Either way, can’t wait to have something new to obsess over: “why didn’t I get in what am I going to do now?!” or “ahh now I have so much to prepare for!”

I swear I refresh this page like my decision is going to magically pop up on here or something. I can’t stay away! Best support system ever  We’re almost there!

My first update since the 18th is that my TF has the loan amount in the parentheses as well. At least its something…This happened over the past 10 minutes (I’ve been refreshing my page like a crazy person all day).

Guys, what if TFA caught on to the whole transitional funding thing last year and fixed it so it doesn’t change and we’re all refreshing like crazy for no reason? That would be the best. And by best I mean worst.

@coppermoss: I feel like if they had caught on to it, all of ours would stay exactly the same. It’s odd that we all have different things going on! I’m hoping that it happens the same last year that people who get in see their TF status change to COMPLETE the night/day of Halloween.

@coppermoss, thats my personal theory. They figured it out so they are making random changes to mess with us.

@elemteacher you and me both!! haha

Well, today I applied to TNTP Teaching Fellows, onwards and upwards guys! We will live our dreams one way or another!

Does anyone think they review TF by placement region ? I feel like that would make the most sense as opposed to last names or submission dates. I’m sure some applicants and their corresponding regions are harder to place than others.

@Halcyondaze
I think so. My top preferences are all based in California, and I only received changes today… I also had a special circumstance to stay in California but I’m actually more open to an acceptance outside of California over being wait listed for CA at this point. My circumstance is important but it’s not a make or break. I’m sure they’re getting an abundance of requests for California which makes it a much harder region to place people in, along with the fact that they already have tons of people in CA…

A friend of mine shooting for California also only received changes not too many days ago as well.

@almostapostgrad My top areas were the Bay area as well as other California locations (NYC was in there too). I’m in the same situation as you and compared to the other regulars on this board, I havent seen too much change til today.

@emac542 I will look into some of those programs. I want to keep all of my options open and keep positive attitudes. In the end, we will all end up where we are meant to be. I wish nothing but good things for us all. It is coming up very very soon!

I prayed about this whole thing and am relying on my Faith; it is all out of our hands.

I have a question to you all about your TF application- does anyone else not have any student loans and is still “under review” with no changes to your status or document verification.

@amk1107 next to your ‘Documentation verifying current amount of Federal Student Loans’ is there an amount of your currentloans?

@halcycondaze: Because we prioritized some really popular regions, I would not be surprised if our TF statuses are only being looked at now considering it must be harder to find space in those popular regions UNDER THE ASSUMPTION that changes in TF actually correlates with acceptance/wait list and they actually care about our preferences.

GAH.

Sorry for the run on sentence but I honestly don’t really know what to expect anymore with the TF statuses. We’ll have our answers soon…

@HalcyonDaze I have yet to have any change to my documents and it still says “under review” “we have yet to review your application or documents” and it is really frustrating to not see a change in my application status. I did not take out any loans while attending school so I am thinking this may be why I have yet to see a change??

@amk1107 It’s hard to say. Any semblance that my TF had been looked at first occurred when the loan amount popped up. But I believe like almostapostgrad said that they could very well still be looking at apps. So keeping the faith is key!

@amk1107, I don’t have any school loans either, so my TF page just says “Under Review.”
