Teach For America 2014 Corps

I had a pretty extensive pref list (17 regions!) but my highly preferred were Hawaii, Nashville, Baltimore, DC, San Diego

What were yours?

Oh wow! I had about 13 regions on my pref list and I thought that was a lot, lol!

My highly preferred regions are Sacramento, Bay Area, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

Hi Everyone! …New person here to obsess over TFA with you all :)

About my experience:
Phone interview: 9/23
Final Interview : 10/16
TF: Submitted documents 10/21 & 10/22

I am from the Bay Area, lived in Atlanta for 4 years and have spent a great deal of time in New Orleans as well. Therefore I have preferenced all of these regions as well as Sacramento and Las Vegas.

**UPDATE Hello everyone, first I’d like to say I hope everyone is having a great day thus far. We are approaching acceptance day and I know many of you are filled with excitement(and some nervousness. I’ve logged into my application page today(after receiving several messages saying “I need to complete the online portion of my application”, what is that all about?).

After logging on I saw that my status still reads “COMPLETE”. I’m not sure if will remain this way until tomorrow or if it will change to something else. I’m glad that acceptance day is nearing, I will miss sharing my crazy theories. I will say if I’m accepted I would like to keep in contact with you all. My participation in the group will be very minimal after today(its the end of the month so I have to submit observations for my students, update student folders for parent-teacher conferences in two-weeks, fine-tune next week lesson plans, prepare next month’s calender and tidy up my classroom (all before 5pm).

I will be on reading post when I get a chance! Keep the post coming!

Also have we already decided on a format for reporting our acceptance on notification day(can you believe its tomorrow?)

Welcome @ambitiousme I actually listed Atl as a preference

@teachtoreach thanks! Atl is great! I had some great times there but it was definitely different for a West Coast girl like myself haha

High preferences were Ny, Connecticut, greater nashville, and Massachusetts
I am already certified in NY- not sure if that matters
This wait is driving me crazy…

@teachtoreach I think we are the few in this group that have been “complete” and have not changed! I guess we will find out tomorrow what that means…

Ah, I remember looking through the 2012 and 2013 threads to read about everyone’s final interview experiences back when I was still waiting to get interviewed.

I also remember having to fish through a MILLION pages about TF statuses just to get to everyone’s interview experiences and thinking that it was a bit excessive…

I don’t blame them one bit now. We’ve come a long journey!

@teenamaree the waiting has been the hardest part of this process for me! It always seems a lot longer than it actually is.

@ambitiousme it’s only been 2wks…it feels like forever.

I wonder if they have made their decisions since final interview date or if there really is a lot more that goes into it like my interviewer said. I’m sure matching Corp members with regions is a process. I just hope being someone that has had no tf change, I still can be accepted.

Did anyone have Memphis as their #1? I know its a small corps but I’ve heard the small corps are beneficial because of the close connection everyone has!

@TeachtoReach, I get the same message. I’ve noticed it happens when my session times out and I have to log back in.

@teenamaree forever indeed. Try to remain cautiously optimistic  I keep telling myself that whatever is meant to be will be

Hey guys! I’m trying to figure out the easiest/clearest format for posting our results tomorrow…this is a work in progress. What does everyone think? Should anything be added/re-worded?

Accepted/Rejected -
Final Interview date -
Invited directly to final interview/phone interview first? -
Applied for transitional funding? (Yes/No) -
If yes, were your documents verified and was there a subsequent change to Complete? (if there was, list the date when the changes occurred) -

@victoriapat really?

Has anyone else status still say “complete” other than myself and @victoriapat? I know a few people have seen their status change to complete then later thier status returned to Under review and or incomplete? I know this is typical, but it is it also typical for status to change to complete and remain complete?

We should indeed get working on the survey format for acceptance or rejection. The biggest issue in post threads was lack of data because some people, due to excitement or distress, stated that they were accepted or rejected but didn’t fill out the survey. We all need to make a point to take the extra minute to fill this out so that, hopefully, future applicants will have less questions. Format I was thinking:

Accepted/rejected/waitlisted:
Date and location of interview:
Invited Directly To Phone Interview?:
Top 3 placement preferences:
Did your status ever change to complete?:
If yes, what day:
Were you ever switched to incomplete and needed to submit further documentation:
If yes, were you put back under review or switched to complete? Please give date:
By the day before notification, were your documents verified? If so, please put if there was YES or N/A next to them:
Please give any other additional information that might be helpful to future applicants

@explorer17–it looks great! The only thing I would suggest, maybe separate the “documents reviewed” and “TF Status Change” just to make it super clear for all those reading our posts after. For example:

Accepted/Rejected:
Final Interview Date:
Invited Directly to Final Interview/Phone Interview first?:
Applied for Transitional Funding? (Yes/No):
If yes, were your documents verified? (Yes/No):
If your documents were verified, did your TF Status change to Complete? (if yes, list the date when the changes occurred):

sorry Explorer I Was Typing That When You Posted Yours! Just Saw It

Hey all.

I’m not sure if this is another glitch but under “Submitted Supporting Documents”, the option to delete the document is gone. I can only review the supporting documents.

Hmm… anyone else notice this change?

Other than that, I’m still under review with verified documents.
