I will be doing General Education (K-9) or Special Education (K-6) in New York! Very excited I was able to be placed in NY since I listed a special circumstance to be here.

Congrats once again to everyone!! And for those who didn’t make it, I truly believe that you are all amazing and it is TFA’s loss and another organization’s gain. Stay invested in this mission, and you will all do great things, whether it’s with TFA, TNTP, or another organization entirely. I’m going to get some shut eye after this overwhelming day but I hope that now that we have our results we all still keep in touch via this board, email or Facebook… so I’ll be back on this thread tomorrow to touch base about our next steps :)

@elemteacher New Orleans and Southern Louisiana are basically the same region. They are sub regions of one another, so if you put one you are automatically putting the other. It also did explain that when you picked your places. I pick New Orleans as my top five and southern Lousiana was automatically placed there too. Right before I submitted my placement form, it said if I had a subregion I may not get the sub region I most prefer, but I may end up in one or the other. So in your case that is how you ended up with New Orleans.

@Jessy13: Greater New Orleans and Louisiana Delta were the subregions for Greater New Orleans. South Louisiana was listed completely separate. I had no subregions on my preference list except for under Oklahoma. And I actually got Louisiana Delta. I would be more okay with New Orleans, since it is more South Louisiana. I don’t get why New Orleans and the Delta are together when Louisiana Delta is up north.

I got an email saying someone from my region will be contacting me today to talk about the transition, so I’m going to discuss it with them. I don’t want to be picky. I know it seems silly - I guess it’s just that I wasn’t expecting it. A big reason I chose South Louisiana is because my older brother lives on the coast, and I wanted to be near him. Now I’ll be about 3/4 hours north of him, which is better than nothing! I definitely don’t want to complain, because I’m excited to be a part of TFA either way.

Southern Louisiana and New Orleans are not the same region. Louisiana Delta is the subregion of Greater New Orleans. I don’t even think they go to the same institute. But the regions are close enough to each other that we can all organize meet ups!

@Thrilled: Did you figure out what subregion you’re in? When I got my decision it specifically said “the Louisiana Delta subregion of the GNO-Louisiana Delta region.” Did everyone else just get a general GNO-Louisiana Delta region?

Middle School English in South Louisiana! SO exciting!!!

I just received an email back about my concern with the fact that my regional placement was not on my preference list at all. To sum it up, she said that generally they never place people in regions outside of their list, but that specifically some regions (such as Louisiana Delta) tend to reach out for certain applicants because of a “variety of factors.” She said the staff member from the region that calls me will discuss this with me in more detail. Mysterious…
