I wouldn’t worry about the Transitional Funding application too much. The deadline tomorrow is only if you want to know your TF status at the same time as your acceptance status. Even if you don’t get it in tomorrow, you can still apply later on.

@yuna4ever I don’t know if that’s necessarily a sure sign that you are accepted in the corps. I’d be super surprised if they’ve already made a decision about admittance for anyone! All of the interviews are this week and I think the results of the interview go to some sort of committee and they deliberate for a couple weeks and then after they decided, they send it to the placement people and after they’re done, we’ll finally get it.

I had my interview today and I think it went well. It was really small, only six people and one interviewer! The lessons were all decent. There were a couple that were just okay, a couple good ones, and a couple that were excellent in my opinion. The group activity went really well and we were all able to chime in. The personal interview wasn’t bad either. Nothing really stood out until I mentioned I wanted to do special education and then she lit up. Just a month-ish til we all know! Hopefully it’ll go fast with the holidays and all.

I rehearsed my lesson several times and I still have 15 seconds left to spare at the end! I was so worried about going over! I hope people think that my lesson is good (I do). I spent hours preparing it.

I’m so jittery right now! I’m excited and super nervous at the same time.

So what I’ve heard is that they actually make decisions right after the interview (I believe it was a post from either this thread of the 2013 Corps one). The reason it takes them so long to get back to us is because it takes awhile to sort out the location placement issue.

To clarify, I’ve already interviewed (and according to others, did really well in the group interview), and I think it was interesting that they asked for my transcript exactly one day after my interview.

Don’t forget, admission is SELECTIVE, not competitive. So it kind of would make sense to me if they’ve already made decisions for everyone who’s interviewed.

I just wish they could tell us a decision before the new year!! Like @yuna4ever said, I’m sure they’ve already made their decision of who’s in and who’s not. They know this is torture!!!

Just got home from my final interview. It went really well! I hear that running over on time is a huge issue, but almost no one in my group ran over. How odd!

Congrats to my fellow 3DLs for finishing your interviews. The wait begins…

I remember referencing a pdf that contained each region and the subjects taught within that region. Does anyone know what I’m talking about or did I just make this up?

Completed my interview yesterday. Yesterday I was feeling good about it. Now today I am rethinking everything I said during the interview and thinking of things I could have said torture! Can’t believe we have 5 weeks till we find out! Thank goodness for Christmas that will hopefully distract all of us!

@Sarabea126 yes there is an excel sheet. I forget exactly where it was. It’s somewhere on the page where we preference.

I think that my lesson and interview went well :)

If they actually do make the decision right after the interview, why don’t they just tell us their decision and then let us wait for placement information?

I’m a late addition to this board, but just discovered it! I just had my final interview this past Thursday and think it went pretty well. I’m hoping to teach elementary or middle school special education in Southern Louisiana, San Antonio, or NOLA/Louisiana Delta.

Has anyone here had apply for early notification and if so did you get a confirmation that the form was received? I was notified yesterday that I am being offered a placement with TNTP and have to give them notice before TFA’s January 9th notification date for DL3.

The longer they make us wait for something, the more we’ll want it. If there is one “big day” that everyone waits for (i.e kind of like college admissions), there’s way more hype about it and it feels like a much bigger deal.

Also, they probably 1. don’t want people who haven’t been interviewed yet to ask people have already interviewed and been accepted any questions about what goes on during an interview and 2. don’t want people to panic.

@wanderlust685, I think that there is a component of placement in acceptance, they may make decisions about who is accepted early, even immediately after interviews, but then they have to place you, and Ithink.there is a possibility that some people are unable to be placed in any of the regions they preferenced so in the end they are not accepted.

So those of you who have been accepted, how many of you received a regional placement that was in your highly preferred? I remember a lot of people were surprised by their placement on this board so I wonder how common it is for applicants to receive one of their highly preferred regions?

@spedteacher84 I don’t recall anyone on this board mentioning early notification but I definitely think you should follow up with an email to make sure they received the form. I think there’s a committee who reviews those type of requests, so did they provide you with their email? If not, I would use the help link and email them. At least they will point you in the right direction of who to contact but that is something serious enough to actively check rather than wait on a response.

@sarabea125 Everyone does their preferences differently. Some only highly prefer a small amount of region like 2 or 3. I put 5 down, so I knew I would get one of them especially since two of them were high priority regions. I don’t know if the window to change preferences is over yet, because I remember they extended it during the final interviews, but I would advise everyone to double check them. The key advice is don’t put ANY region down that you do not want to go to. I know of some people who got placed in some regions that they were not comfortable with.

@spedteacher84 I applied for early notification too after finding out on Friday I was offered a placement with TNTP. I did not receive a confirmation email, but I believe it said it would take up to 3 business days to receive notification if the request was accepted.

My teaching lesson didn’t go too well, but I felt the interview was alright. Do the interviewers at the final interview make the actual decision?

I went straight to the final interview, which does make me feel a bit better. I haven’t heard of anyone who skipped the phone not getting a placement, but obviously it must happen sometimes.

Oh well. Waiting another month is going to be so hard! The only thing that made me feel good during the interview was my interviewer kept saying that she already had most of the info she needed from me and several times she said that “she got the answer she was looking for.”

Best of luck to everyone! If anyone hasn’t gone yet then I highly suggest just Googling tips and reading info here and on their site. If you do that then there really shouldn’t be any surprises during the interview.
