@marydee: TNTP does sound like a great option! I haven’t put much time to research the organization, so I will probably not be applying for this cycle. I like to do my homework first before jumping into a program, so if anything I will be applying next year. I’m sure you will do awesome in the program!
I agree @TFA5thDL2015 !
It’s so weird coming to an online setting to vent… but it seems like no one in my real life understands. … and plus I don’t want to get on their nerves. I feel like I’m waiting for a college acceptance letter, or my BF to propose, or something lol… Feels good, to know I’m not alone. Although I don’t wish this feeling on anyone.
@MoLoveMoGrowth: hahaha. samezies! fun fact: I was playing Cards Against Humanity this past weekend and one of the cards said “What’s Teach for America using to inspire inner city students to succeed?”…lol no one understood the question because they didn’t know TFA is an organization… they were like teaching? Americans? haha. it was awesome to actually be able to explain what TFA was. and they were like… “oh, okay”… lol they have NO idea what i’m going through right now. so, it’s awesome to have a forum to vent to.
@TFA5thDL2015 Lol, that game is hilarious! I’ve only played a couple times, but both times were quite entertaining. I didn’t know there was a TFA card though bwahaha!
@MoLoveMoGrowth: hhaha. yup! very fun game indeed! i was actually surprised there was a card on TFA. and, i was trying to forget about TFA for at least a day or so, but TFA somehow was able to creep up and surprise me. lmao.
We only have to go to sleep three more times until we find out!!!
@chellepepper I like the way you think. I get more nervous with every day that passes.
It is getting harder to fall asleep, that’s for sure!
Repost in case anyone would like to update google doc:
replace [dot] with real dots
2.5 more days!!! ggaaahhhhh! let the suspense be over soon plsss!
Got an email from my recruiter this evening. Almost died from excitement. Then I read it and it looks like it was a generic email sent to everyone in my area and recruiter is just being a nice guy/doing the TFA thing and sending endless communications. He specifically said:
“I’m sure that many of you are anxious for any little hint you can get about whether or not you got in…sorry to disappoint! Unfortunately, I don’t have any insider information (I’m waiting just as anxiously as you are), but I do want to send out some good vibes and say that my fingers are crossed!”
Can’t wait for this to just be over already! Sleeping is not even an option at this point :S
Hey y’all!.. don’t be so discouraged!.. go out and embrace your inner Irish today - feel lucky and try to forget about TFA till Thursday! That’s what I’m trying to do!
As someone above I believe already said, I’m pretty sure that TFA realizes that people were putting stock into TF status and docs verified/unverified. … I’m pretty sure that it is no longer a useful tool for figuring out if we’re in or not. …
I attended the webinar on transitional funding and the TFA host specifically stated that if you apply for TF before the March 5 deadline, you will not see a change in your TF status - it will stay Under Review until notification day… just thought I’d share that in hopes that it will raise your spirits some!
Welcome @TeachForNC2015 we’re glad to have you, and it was me who said I’m pretty sure they’ve caught on to the TF trend, however they do seem pretty linked, and every year someone asks an administrator in TFA if transitional funding really matters and EVERY year they say no, and EVERY year the trend is correct, lol. This DL though I’d say we only have one person who, based on previous years is definitely getting in, everyone else is a toss up.
This thread has been a lifesaver and a strange obsession of mine since the application process began for me. I’m a 4th deadline applicant who hasn’t applied for TF because I’d rather not take out the short term loan if I can avoid it. I’ve been attempting to determine if there is any pattern for non-TF peeps, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Oh well, guess I’ll wait patiently until Thursday! Yeah, right! Lol
As many responders have already mentioned, I don’t think there’s any reason to feel discouraged at this point. I wish you all the best!
Exactly! I’m also a 4th DLer and I remember my interviewers saying that there are enough spots for everyone in the room. Keep our hopes high!
Good morning, yall! Happy St Patrick day!
@zqbxhdzw My interviewer said the same thing, that if we all fit the bill they would take us all. That it was not a competition. @chellepepper it’s afternoon here! Have a great St. Patty’s day
Also 2 days guys!!!
Thursday cannot come fast enough for me. It’s all I can think about and it’s so hard to focus on anything else! I just want to know one way or the other, this waiting game is killer. It’s like, I know they know if I’m in, I just don’t lol. Ahhhh so nervous y’all.
@zqbxhdzw @aprilmatt1113 Honestly, I felt like that is just formality language. In reality, the admittance would be higher than roughly 10-15% If everyone who fit the bill of being successful was fully considered. … Just in my opinion, part of what makes them TFA is how they are viewed as an “elite” program, they have to keep that up when looking at it from a business and sustainable lens. It’s not a competition, but not everyone will be admitted even if they fit what’s looked for. But, that’s just my opinion from reading different articles and personal stories.
