Thank you so much @aprilmatt1113 ! It is nice to just here it from someone who has done it. I am about to complete my online activity tomorrow and will interview somewhere between April 6th-9th. I am getting exciting but also have a busy week of school so plan on actually focusing on the Final Interview Day this weekend. Thank yo again.
@aprilmatt1113 Did you major in a science and was HS science a top choice for you?
@futuretfa15 My major was Animal and Poultry Science, so lots of chemistry, and biological sciences, yes. HS was a top choice, but English was actually my number 1 highly preferred, science was my third highly preferred. However, my region, Houston, is in need of STEM teachers, and they place you based off of your transcripts, mostly, so I’m not surprised I ended up with science.
Hey @501528 ! I applied for the 2016 corps as well. Where do you think you’re going to do the final interview? I was honestly so surprised. I didn’t know how my phone interview went.
@TFA2016 Somewhere near Atlanta or the Carolina’s. I just completed my online activity and am getting more and more excited but also still freaking out as I haven’t planned my lesson yet.
I am so glad that I found this board. I am a little disappointed though. I don’t see any posts from TFA hopefuls for the last DL, which was February 23rd with notification day being April 23rd. I am defintely in that category. So far it has been a joy reading through all the previous posts and learning more about everyone’s experiences with the TFA application journey.
It has been a great experience for me, as I have wanted to apply for many years and I finally took a chance to do so. I hate rejection and having to wait until April 23rd for admission status is grueling.
Congratulations to all of you who made it! I hope to join you guys soon.
10 more days until DL6 notification day! I’m super nervous!
I’m also on the last deadline. Had my final interview and the wait is killing me. I’ve been stalking around threads but this is my first post. Their are gobs and gobs of anecdotal evidence… enough to make you crazy.
Anyone from 6th deadline has any transition funding documents verified or been contacted for additional documents? I’m still showing blank and trying not to panic. There’s time left, I had to submit a lot of documents and I just want it to work out so badly!
@sleeplessgal101 I also applied for transitional funding and nothing has been verified as of yet. It is like being on pins and needles. What is your top regional preference? I chose Orlando. I am trying to remain positive. I hope that everything works out for us!
@missleka I picked DC and Boston which I know are very popular so I’m just hoping to get in the program! I’m hoping that the TF verification isnt a bad omen yet but I’m prepared for anything.
I’m just trying to keep in mind that I tried my best, and put my best foot forward and there’s nothing to do but wait.
Any other lurkers on our deadline have a verification on their TF documents please consider looping us in! We’re all just fingers crossed!
Hello! I’m a 6DL applicant as well. I’ve been reading this thread and others like it ever since my phone interview. Reading everyone’s experience has been a joy and praying for the best news during this last deadline for everyone waiting like me!
I applied for transitional funding and it is still under review. Nothing is verified for me yet. I interviewed last Thursday.
Nice to know at least 2 other people seem to be in my boat. Watching that silly TF status is making me nuts but it’s nice to know I’m not alone!
@Passion4People welcome and glad you decided to join us. As sleeplessgal101 said, it’s good to know that other people are in the same boat. My husband feels very confident that I will be accepted. I wish I had his confidence . Everyday is a constant back and forth with " i know tfa will accept me" and “there’s no chance in the world that I will be accepted.”
I believe in the power of words! Stay positive! @missleka
@sleeplessgal101 I don’t want to watch the TF status anymore either. There is no point in stressing over that. 9 more days!
@sleeplessgal101 I was asked for additional information regarding regional placement the day after my final interview. I’m not exactly sure what to make of it, but my TF also has not been verified yet!
@Westineast what kind of addituonal regional placement information? I read somewhere that Richmond would not be placing TFA applicants this year due to a shortage in the number of people who applied. Was it one of your highly preferred regions?
@missleka It was for placement in Chicago. Apparently you must meet certain criteria for that region so I had to submit documents showing my qualification for teaching in that region.
You probably noticed they updated their homepage. DC was my top choice and I’m confused by their page. It says their incoming corp size is 20 and total core size is 177 but the narrative lists the corp size at 255. I guess maybe they’re reducing the size of that region? Anyone have any scoop? Including 4th and 5th deadline peeps?
Or is it a typo? At this point I would be grateful just to get the opportunity but I was really interested in DC.
@Westineast That definitely sounds like a good sign for you! Why request more information right?
@missleka: I think if TFA uses that argument for closing out a region, I would call it a total B.S. I think it is more that they did not receive enough “qualified” applicants to fill in the regions. I am 100% certain that would be able to fill ALL regions if they really wanted to. It is not a matter of numbers, but rather the “quality” that applicants are not being able to fulfill based on their pillars/standards.
By the way, I was previously rejected for the 5th DL and I would have accepted ANY region if they were willing to extend an offer or made that available to me (regardless of my regional preferences). And, for the sake of my argument, I’m sure many would have done the same.
