Teach for America 2015 Corps

OMG I know exactly what you mean @missleka . I am SOOOOO nervous and excited all at the same time. Why can’t Thursday at 6 p.m. just get here already. FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED!!!

@Passion4People I think it will be an awesome adventure no matter where I am place. But I think Hawaii, Florida, or Texas would be really fun. How about you? Where would you like to be placed???

@culb2015: I was actually referring to the actual Transitional Funding page, not the main page where it lists all of the requirements. I’m sure by now you know that there is an option to view the status of your Transitional Funding. On that page, if you have any “yes” or “N/A” to the right of each document, then that means they have looked at your file. If it is completely blank, then it may not seem like a good sign especially at this point. If you stand in that ladder, then mentally prepare yourself (which I did during the 5th deadline).

@Passion4people: Yes, I will definitely be applying again. Unfortunately, “dedication” is not good enough for TFA. lol. They want a balance of skills/leadership potential to go along with that, which I apparently do not have yet – at least according to their standard.

A little more than 24 hours yall! Very excited. I’m super hopeful but I have also been considering some treats to get myself if I am disappointed haha

@culb2015 Yeah! I agree! I plan to stay in Florida. I would also live in Texas and I’ve definitely thought about living in Hawaii at some point or at least vacation there just for the experience.

Sending good luck tomorrow everyone! We almost made it through the two week waiting period

Anyone else have a nagging stomach ache? Doing all their tasks today with urgency? Eeep.

I’m very nervous. As of yesterday, I had no comments on my TF. I’m afraid to look today, as I’m starting to worry. I really want this, but as someone said before, dedication is not enough in their book. I feel that my interview went okay, but who knows, as my interviewer wasn’t exactly a warm person so I had trouble feeling comfortable (although I didn’t say that in my survey–haha!). I had 27 locations where I wanted to be, so I feel that it is open enough to be placed if they did like me. I’m still staying hopeful!! Good luck to everyone tomorrow

Same here, sleeplessgal101, I’ve been a nervous wreck, unfortunately.

I know exactly what you mean @ohheythere5 and @sleeplessgal101 . My transitional funding status has NO COMMENTS OR NOTES. Does anyone know if that is good or bad??? I am just ABSOLUTELY GOING INSANE!!! I DONT KNOW IF I CAN WAIT ANY LONGER!!! Good luck to everyone tomorrow.

@culb2015 I keep reading that it’s bad, but I’ve also read that a few people who do have comments got rejected. So I have no idea, really. I wish I never read this forum page lol I never noticed my TF page in that way and now any confidence I had is sort of gone. I’m generally a very optimistic person but wow, I hope it’s not true. It’s like why would TFA leave that glaring clue? Might as well just have told us a week ago of our acceptance/denial.

I’m sure many of you know but you don’t have to wait until 6pm to view your status of application. I generally see it around 10:30/11am for each decision round. I don’t know if that’s a pacific time thing or what.

Does anyone have any backup plans if we don’t get this? I’ve applied to different Universities, but TFA is definitely my 1st choice.

@culb2015 I don’t have any notes or comments on my TF page either. I never thought about what that meant before you said something lol

TFA is my first choice! Didn’t want to think too much about different plans until I know for sure about their decision to be honest! Of course I will be applying to other jobs though and I hope to reapply for the 2016 corp. I even thought about joining City Year because the application for where I’m trying to move is due on April 30th!

Oh! I’m running my very first 5K tonight! So that will help me keep my mind off everything hopefully!

@ohheythere5 I agree with you but at the same time this thread has calmed my nerves somewhat knowing that there other people in the same boat. So where did you hear that you will be able to view your final admission status??? This something I have not read on here until you. Anyways, I will be checking the applicant center every hour tomorrow. If for some reason I don’t get in, I am thinking about going to IUK here in Indiana and doing the Transition to Teaching program. I just attended a job fair today and people were there from IUK and they said that you can complete the program in 16 months. I GOT THIS!! I’m getting accepted to TFA, I just feel good about it!!! Both of my references made me look like an angel so because of this, I BELIEVE I WILL GET ACCEPTED!!!

@Passion4People what exactly is City Year???

@culb2015 I guess I’m sort of assuming it will be available to view on our main application, just like with the other decisions (phone, final interview, etc). I’ve never received an email stating I’ve moved on to a new round, although some people have. I’m sending positive energy out there, whatever happens, it’s all meant for the best

I also read somewhere on this forum that some people’s TF status did not change until decision day, that’s what I’m crossing my fingers for. On decision dates, I usually see the decision around 10:30am PST. I’m hoping for the same time this round, as I cannot wait for 3pm lol!

@culb2015 It’s a pretty similar program to TFA except you are not a “teacher” you work with one to help students succeed in the classroom. You are more like a tutor. You are very involved in the schools though and do a lot of before school and after school work with the kids. You do this for 1 year instead of two. Visit http://www.cityyear.org for more info. It’s a great program. I chose TFA first because I would like to have the ability to teach in my own classroom. There is something very powerful about that

@ohheythere5 OHHHHH THATS RIGHT, I forgot, you have applied and been rejected before. See this is my first time applying for TFA. I have previously applied to TEACH Charlotte and made it to the final all day in person interview; but they ultimately decided to go with someone else other than me.

Might I add many people do both TFA and City Year!

@culb2015 & @Passion4People I do not have any comments but I do have 3 ‘yes’ indicators.
I don’t think comments mean anything if you have a yes. I submitted the exact documents requests, so I’m not sure what comments they would need.

@ohheythere5 do you or anyone know what weight your recommendations carry in the admission process???
