Teach For America- 2018 Corps

Me too!! we’re so close!

I got Secondary Science in Western MA, I’m torn.

I’m sorry your not in love with it. Is it the region or subject?

@TFASR2018 The subject, I really didn’t want secondary or science. So idk if I am going to accept the offer.

As a sub, I can say middle school is tough. However, you do have a really good chance of teaching kids important skills so they can be successful in high school and college.

@TFASR2018 I’m just not interested in this subject. Right now I am honestly leaning towards declining the offer

@TFAcali2018 what did you rank the subject?

ahh I just found out mine! I got my first choice which is California Capital Valley  Good luck to everyone else!

@TFAgal2018 Less preferred which was as low as you could

Ok, well now I’m terrified.

@TFASR2018 ok same

I got my top choices: Charlotte, NC teaching elementary. My special circumstance was honored.

Greater Philadelphia middle grades (4-8) Science! Scared to death about the subject but couldn’t be happier about the region! Anyone else in Philly?

I got special ed. I’m crushed. That may not even get me the right credential. Has anyone ever heard of someone being reassigned?

I put a special circumstance for bay area, but I thought I made it clear I only wanted that if I could get middle or high school. I gave them so many other options. I’m mad at myself for putting that down now, but I’m also really upset about getting special ed. That’s a very specific teaching path and I’m just so upset. I really don’t want to do a two year program at Davis because I screwed myself over on this.

I’ve been placed in Connecticut teaching secondary science. Thrilled about my subject, but CT was my 7th choice

High school English in Charlotte, NC!! First choice across the board. Couldn’t be happier.

Hi all! Second deadline Corp member here, going to Arkansas to teach middle school (4-8) science! If anyone wants to talk Arkansas, middle school science, or New England area (I currently go to school in Western Mass), feel free to chat me up! At first I wasn’t thrilled with the subject, and I spent a bit of time convincing my parents that I’d be moving from NH ago Arkansas, and it was difficult considering the fact that I’ve never lived outside of NH and Mass, let alone even been to Arkansas.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out to me!

I’ll echo the above comment — feel free to reach out if you have any questions about placement/exams/next steps (or if you’re applying for the 4th deadline and have questions about that)! I’ll be teaching elementary school in Chicago, so if you’re placed in either of those areas, let me know! If you have hesitations and want to chat, or if you’re nervous about moving somewhere new (I’m moving from rural upstate NY to Chicago so I get it), or anything else, I’m always free to talk.

Hi guys, just got assigned to Tulsa, not exactly sure how to feel about that because it was my 12th choice, but I guess I’m open to anything. If anyone else going to Tulsa would like to connect send me a message!
