Congratulations to everyone who got in! I got in 2nd deadline and I will be teaching elementary school in Chicago. At this point, I’ve passed my certification exam, applied to Relay Graduate School (where everyone in Chicago studies), and I’m spending this week interviewing with principals so I can be placed in a specific school.
If you have any questions at all moving forward, please let me know! Preferencing locations can be super daunting, so I can try to help with that. Or if you have questions about Chicago or elementary specifically, I can try to help with that too.

Has everyone filled out their regional choices?? What did everyone put?
I keep changing them every time I read those spreadsheets! Right now South Dakota and New Mexico are my number 1 choices!
Did everyone get the South Carolina specific email? I put it as my high priority area, but in my least preferred section. I’m hoping that getting this SC email isn’t an indication of anything. Anyone who has either not submitted their listing or did not include SC still get this email?
I put Las Vegas in my preferred category and I got an email about that location. I am unsure if this means anything

Hello all! I have been navigating through the forum ever since I applied for the last deadline! I’m happy to say that I got accepted. On that note, I’m currently selecting regions and I’m hoping to be placed in Las Vegas valley, but we’ll see. If anyone has some insight for that region please share! On another note @HopingForTFA2019 I’ve already have received a few of those emails, none of which is for Vegas which I currently have listed as my high priority. So, i wouldn’t be too alarmed!
Welcome and Congratulations, @MaThTFA2018! I’m assuming from your username that you got in to the 2018 corps. Did you already submit your regional choices?
Yes @HopingForTFA2019 , I got into the 2018 corps! I have selected everything, both regional and assignment preferences, but I have yet to submit. I currently only have 1 highly preferred and that’s Vegas (A high needs region). So, I’m debating if to add more high need regions to my highly preferred.
@MaThTFA2018 I would recommend putting more than one highly preferred area, but if your heart is really set on Las Vegas, then keep it as your number one. I have a friend who has already done TFA and went to Vegas. She told me that the consensus around TFA is that if you put Las Vegas, you’re going to get Las Vegas lol! I’m not sure how true that still is, but it is a high need area.
When you do submit your list, would you mind letting me know if you get a Vegas specific email? I like to think I’m being cool about this, but I’m definitely panicking a little! :))
Hey guys! So for regions that require a car: Are cars absolutely required? Like will they check if we have one? Because I’m planning on selling my car and ubering because that’s actually cheaper for me haha
