Teach For America - 2019 Corps

@RubyRubix Yeah, I completely understand that! I really want Houston because it’s the closest city to my hometown, and I’m not ready to venture too far just yet.

Congratulations to everyone who got in!! Good luck making your regional selections. I know I ended up changing mine again with 30 minutes left on the clock!! If anyone has any questions or needs anything, let me know (:

I just checked my applicant portal… I AM IN!!! I’m literally in tears

Congrats @sswhite96!

To all future applicants that are freaking out about their timelines, mine didn’t disappear until yesterday and I got in so keep your heads up!!

Mine never once disappeared and I got in, so I’m not entirely convinced that’s a strong indicator of your status!

I think it isn’t the best indicator, but it does give you somewhat of an idea of the admissions decision. For the most part if your timeline disappears and doesn’t return you’re in, and that has been a constant throughout all of these threads. If your timeline never disappears there seems to still be a chance you made it in, however, if your timeline disappeared and then returned that’s a strong indicator you were rejected. For future applicants I wouldn’t advise worrying about it too much, and I don’t think you should be overly confident if you notice your timeline is missing. These are just trends that I have noticed throughout the threads and they seem relatively accurate. Keep in mind though that there’s only a small percentage of applicants who post here, and not everyone updates the group on their admissions decision.

I got in! What a surprise! Already looking at regions. Surprised only five offer French for me and only six for ESL. Also Phoenix didn’t ask me for French which is ironic as so many folks I know get asked to teach French in Phoenix despite not having studied French. Got a lot of Spanish too.

Regions regions regions! Hahaha  so happy and proud of everyone!!!

If anyone is interested in the Southwest Ohio region, let me know! Not only is that where TFA is sending me, but it’s where I am from so I can answer any questions! (SWO certifies you for free!)

Which regions are you all considering?
My highly preferred regions are Miami and Metro Atlanta. I’m considering Las Vegas, Houston, and Charlotte as well.

My top regions are the Bay Area, Las Vegas, and Colorado

i wish one day that i could meet all of you! you all sound so excited and like sweet, driven people  wherever we are placed, i am glad we are apart of one big happy teach for america family!! keep me updated on where you all get placed - i know we hear back June 4! That’s soon if ya think about it

Almost ready to submit my regional preferences! How’s everyone else doing?

Submitted regions! What were your highly preferenced/top picks?

I went with Buffalo, MA, Twin Cities, and Rhode Island

Has anyone started their application for the first deadline?

Quick question if I’m applying to the 2019 corps if accepted I would start working in June of 2019 or Sept of 2019? or when

I have I will find out Sept 21

@sukari depending on your region, you will start in May or June of 2019. You will go to Institute for the summer training program, then have a couple weeks off to house hunt in your region/get settled before the school year. Basically, you should count on being involved with TFA from May onward.

thank you so much and okay I’m in New York will they relocate me or just depends?
