<p>Anybody have any experience with the TEACH Grant Program? Their website pretty much says to check with your financial aid office, so I emailed them, but it will probably be a few days until they get back to me.</p>

<p>I'm planning on going to school starting fall of 2014 and put down Sociology as my major. Since then, I've realized that it's a horrible major for me (and apparently it's not the best thing to major in anyway as far as career opportunities go). Does anyone know which majors are generally eligible for the grant? Do I have to major in education? I'd like to major in physics, but I'm not sure if it would be possible to qualify for the grant with that.</p>

<p>Also, does anyone know about any requirements to qualify for the grant? Do I need to have a certain high school GPA, SAT scores, etc...? Does it matter that I'm currently taking a year off between high school and college?</p>

<p>You have to be taking coursework to become an elementary or secondary school teacher. You also have to work full time as a teacher for 4 years in a high need field in a low income area. If you don’t, then the grant is converted back to a loan with interest accruing from the date of the issue of the loan(s).</p>

<p>At my school, you would have to be taking one of the following majors through through the College of Education: Secondary Science Education; Secondary Math Education; P-12 Foreign Language. I don’t think a Physics major would qualify, but your school will be the best one to advise you on eligible programs.</p>
