Teacher Evaluations....

so, heres my problem. I have a common app school due the 1st and another the 2nd. I gave my teachers the common app supplements for both of them. They are (as far as I know) both snail mailing them in. I also gave them the envelopes and stamps and everything. My school uses naviance so on there isn't a way to add a teacher directly on the common app. Heres what it says under the recommendation section on the common app for me:

"For transcripts, school reports and teacher recommendations, your school is using Naviance eDocs. Please contact your counselor directly and they will provide instructions specific to your school regarding these documents. Once your counselor and teachers submit their school forms you will see them here, and the status of the school forms below."

My counselor is new, and when I asked her about adding teachers on common app for their recommendations, she said that as long as I give them the enveloped and everything, and they send them in on time, I'll be fine. However, the common app section still says "Required: You must have 2 more teacher(s) submit evaluations."

I'm afraid that come tomorrow the app won't submit because of this. What should I do?

Also, I have one additional recommendation from a coach that I need to mail in (He emailed it to me and I'm mailing it). Its not on the common app form and is just in letter form. Can I just send it into my college without anything additional? He uses my full name and it says my school name all over it. Should this be enough?

gonnabcrazi - Have no fear, you can absolutely submit your Common App Online without your teachers appearing on the School Forms page of your application. Because you attend a high school that uses Naviance Succeed, all the teacher assignment junk is handled outside the Common App Online system. If your teachers mail in your recs you’ll be fine.

As for your coach rec, if it’s sealed just mail it in. If it’s not, it wouldn’t hurt to write your Common App ID on the letter at the top of the page to make it easier for the college to match it to your file.

Good luck!

Macgyver, thanks for your reply! You covered everything I needed. Now, hopefully everything will send smoothly tomorrow.

Also, I just realized that I wont be able to mail things until the third because of New Years then Sunday. Will I be able to send things on Monday without being penalized? It will be postmarked the third when its supposed to be the second. Will colleges be lenient because of the holiday?

If you’ve submitted everything else to the college via the Common App Online by the deadline you should be fine to mail your coach’s letter on Monday.
