I asked my English teacher to write me a recommendation for my Common App in mid October and he told me he would be glad to. The deadline to submit my applications was November 1st and I reminded him about it a few days before because I saw that he hadn’t even started it. He told me that he knew and that he was working on it, along with several other recs for other students. November 1st passed and I submitted my app anyways knowing he could submit the rec whenever. I am a Questbridge College Match Finalist and so I should know if I am matched to any of my schools by December 1st but am worried that his recommendation not getting in on time will affect my chances. I checked again and it still says he hasn’t started it. Would it be rude to remind him once again? He got to my friend’s recommendation before mine’s and she asked him two weeks after I did. He sees me everyday so I’m sure he hasn’t forgot. I’m just so stressed out about it.
I’m sorry, that’s a really uncomfortable place to be in. It’s also not cool of him to toy with your future (especially when you’ve such a neat one ahead of you–congratulations on Questbridge!) I would talk to him in person and be really nice and just say look, I’m sorry to bother you but this application is really, really important to me. Is there anything I can do to help you get it started/move along? (or something along the lines of that, with which you’re comfortable)
Maybe talk to your GC and ask what you should do…tell them that you asked the teacher in October and it is due Nov 1 and you have reminded him and what should you do?
