The whole teacher recommendation process is confusing me.

First off, one of the teachers I am going to ask teaches an elective at my school. She teaches accounting. I want to be a business major. Is she a good rec?

Also, does a teacher have to write an essay for each of the schools I am applying to? Or do they just write one for all of them?

If a college wants a Guidance consular rec, should I still get 2 teacher recs, or just one?

It depends on the college (yes, you've probably heard that before)

Some colleges specifically ask for core/academic teachers to write your recommendations; I don't know if accounting would count as an academic or not. Either way, ultimately you want a teacher that can talk about your strengths and interests. If the college considers accounting a core subject, and that teacher knows you very well, then she'd be a good person to ask.

Usually teachers will write one letter, and then copy it and send it to each of the schools you're applying to.

The GC rec is usually required, in addition to 2 teacher recommendations. Again, double check with the college.
