I am finalizing a few of my applications (early decision, early scholarship deadline, etc.) now, and am wondering how many teacher recommendations would be appropriate to send. Most schools on my list require 1-2, but accept 3-4. Would it be alright to send 3? I am not absolutely sure, but I do think each of the 3 teacher's perspectives would be relatively different. I appreciate your help! :)

Three is a good number, to us. A few schools don’t allow as many as three. I don’t think a school would ask for more if they don’t want more. I think my son has one school that requires only 1 teacher recommendation, but will take 2 more, and will take 3 non-teacher recommendations.

If the college will accept three, and the third recommendation highlights something that would potentially not be covered in the others, I think it is fine.

Of course, if a college asks for 1 or 2 teacher recommendations, and they say they want no more than that, don’t send additional.

Is there any word limit for teacher recommendation?

No, but I doubt this would be an issue. However, if s/he uploads a document, it has to be less than 500 kb in size.
