Well, I will admit here in the beginning that I've gotten myself into quite the stink, and that I'm pretty dumb for not trying to fix this ahead of time. So please, don't bother commenting if you're just going to tell me how stupid I am. :C

I originally only applied to one school rather early online on Common App, and they did not require anything other than a counselor recommendation. As such, I didn't need any teacher recommendations.
However, last minute, my mother decided to try to force me into applying to several other private schools through Common Application. Seeing as all I really have to do are the supplements, I have no problems there.

However, the deadlines for some of them are on January 1st and 2nd. I don't go back to school until the 3rd, and I don't have teacher recommendations; most of these schools require two in addition to the Counselor Recommendation. I'm sure there are several teachers I can ask, and I've emailed several of them already, but I have to submit the Common App tomorrow. No one has replied to me either, despite that I have personal emails for some of them because they prefer to be contacted there.

From what I've read, there doesn't seem to be any way to assign new recommenders/replace unsubmitted recommenders with others in the school forms section after the application has been submitted and the deadline has passed.

Does anyone have any advice? At this rate, I'd just have to assign the teachers to the colleges and hope for the best. I'm so stressed right now about that idea. :C

Thanks in advance.

You can usually submit teacher recommendations later and they don’t have to be right there on the deadline, unless the admissions website says all materials must be received by the date.

Since some teachers prefer to send them by hand, you could probably list several and see which ones write you a rec.

Yeah, you definitely waited too long. It happens and should be a lesson to others. For you, let’s hope the teachers you already asked will do it for you. How well do you know them and will they do this for you if you ask very, very nicely?

Your teacher’s recommendations from the first time you used the common app should still be saved on your profile.

Schools tend to be somewhat lenient on LoRs coming in a few days after the deadline. Report the teacher you feel will be able to write it for you and submit the application without it. Hope that your colleges allow a grace period, and speedily snail mail it your college.

@PleaseRice: Unfortunately, my teachers did not write me any recommendations for the first time, since none were required and I didn’t want to trouble them. Well that backfired, didn’t it? :C

@Samurai: My language teacher for three years will almost definitely write me one; she’s really kind and likes me, so hopefully that will work out. :C
As for the second app, do you think Philosophy will count towards social sciences? I can’t really say, but it sounds like it would be okay? My Philo teacher is nice, though he’ll probably chide me.
I’ll beg my English teacher just in case too. OTL

Chrystal,

What major do you want to study? Some colleges want an English/social science/foreign language/humanities teacher for one, and a math/science teacher for the other. Other schools are fine with two recs, no matter who they are.

Just go with whoever you feel will help you out of this serious bind. Then make sure you thank them, profusely.

Colleges are used to having LoR trickle in after the deadline, so it is fine.

Prepare a list of teachers that you would like to ask for a letter. Many teachers want at least a two week period to write recommendations, so some may refuse if you ask them to write it ASAP.

I submitted my application on the 28th and I can still change around the recommenders on my application (at least, the ones who didn’t submit their recommendations). I deleted the ones who didn’t submit the recs, and added new teachers instead and got my recs in half an hour before the deadline. Now that the deadline HAS passed for one of my colleges, I could still delete one recommender and put in another who has done the rec.
