<p>Hey guys I was just wondering if it matters which teachers you get your recommendations from. So for example, I wanted to get them from my Chemistry and Journalism(also my swim coach) teachers. Does the fact that I chose a journalism teacher rather than my AP English/History teacher matter? I've known my journalism teacher longer and like him more than my other AP teachers. </p>

<p>I think it depends on what your potential major/interests are. For example, if you are interested in science/pre-med, then I would get at least one out of the two recs from a science teacher. However, I don’t think a journalism vs AP English/History teacher is that significant. Although AP English/History are prob considered more important and standard subjects, I would prob go w/ the teacher who you feel like will write the stronger rec.</p>

<p>The common app requires 2 recs from academic teachers … Journalism isn’t usually considered an academic subject, so unfortunately you’ll need the rec from your AP English/History teacher.</p>
