Hola CC, I want to start asking for rec for next year, and have some questions about the process

I have a preliminary list of schools I'm applying to: about half use Common App, while half do not. Therefore, I think I'll be sending my recs in via snail mail.

Question: I've been hearing a lot about Common App's recommendation form that they provide. Do I HAVE to use this form, or can my teachers just write traditional letters?

Thanks all!!!

You can apply online while having the recs sent on paper. The teacher has to print out the rec form and attach the rec letter, and then they can mail it in.

In most cases this is out of your hands. Your schools determine how the letters are handled, and teachers choose to use the online tool or not. You normally never see your rec, unless the teacher shares it with you.

I would encourage them to submit the online whenever possible. Even if they dont use common app, they probably have an online submission, check with the school.
