Teacher Recommendations?

I'm genuinely confused on this issue. I'm applying to 10 schools, most of which require 2 recommendations from teachers. Do I need to ask 20 teachers for recommendations? Should I just ask two and have them make ten copies of their letter? I'm applying via the Common Application. The letters still get mailed, right?

Most of my teachers aren't very well educated (no offense, just sayin'), so I'm dubious about their recommending ability- I feel that they'll just write letters full of generalities and good things about me, but won't really make any side of my personality shine.

Furthermore, I'm a very private person. I don't open up to people well, especially adults. I'm sure my teachers will all write me great recommendations about my dedication, love of learning, and academic strength, but I don't see how they could really write anything truly deep about me. What can I do?

i think the teachers can submit the letters of recommendation online

Ask two teachers and make them each make 10 copies…

I second the last two points.

Any other suggestions?

Teacher recommendations just seem so awkward!

You ask your 2 top teachers asap if they would be willing. If yes you print out top form of common app w/ your info inputted, give it to the teacher/s w/ your resume-- so they can say something about you. The teachers will then keep if on file (never showing the rec. to you). When you are ready (late fall- early winter-- before deadlines) w/ your list of 5-10 schools, you write a letter to teacher w/ the list and give them addressed (to the schools) & stamped envelopes. They will then photo copy the rec form and send it off.

You may have a 2nd batch or 3rd batch set of requests. too (especailly if doing early action apps). When all is done be sure to write a thank you to ea teacher.

wow that seems like a hassle. but arent a lot of the applications done online now?

ur not allowed to see the teacher recs?

Ask your top two teachers (make sure you look carefully at what the colleges are saying, some of them require an english/history teacher and math/science teacher soo look at that clause) and then just give them the information necessary to fill out the reccomendation. say “i’m gonna apply to College A, B, and C” and then let them know that. attach a resume/accomplishements that you want them to emphasize and voila. let them do it online with Common App UNLESS you are submitting your application and letter of recs with snail mail, then you have the whole stamped envelope for them.

Gaoez- you never see the teacher rec (unless the violate the rule)-- bc it is suppose to be without partiality. That is why you ask a teacher if they are willing. If a teacher declines-- move on to the next, it usually means they felt they could not write a good one about you.
