I feel that this is the hardest part about transferring. I havent really worked side by side with any of my college professors and I am afraid it will be extremely awkward when I ask them for teacher recs. Does anyone have experience with this? I just feel like some of them will be offended that I am considering leaving the school that they represent. Does anyone have any pointers for going about this?

There are other threads on this site, which you should look for. I suggest you participate actively in class (when appropriate), and visit your prof during office hours. You can also ask a T.A. to write LORs.

The two professors I asked were not offended that I asked them. I suggest asking in person if they would be willing to write you a rec, and set up a time to discuss this during office hours. Give them plenty of warning and allow them to say no. Only during the meeting did I reveal why I wanted LORs. I did not insult the school I was attending, but said that I was looking for a school that would be a better fit for me. I also brought a folder that included addressed & stamped envelopes for each school, a resume, the deadlines for each school, and the common app LOR form.

The professors I asked were very supportive and understanding.

Remember that professors needed recs too when they applied for grad school/ jobs.
