over the summer i attended a computer programming acadamy at stanford and one of my teachers from the acadamy volunteered to write me a recommendation letter. Does stanford allow this or does it strictly have to be from a teacher that taught you in your high school?

no, its against policy to have a teacher rec from someone outside your high school

Nope, nooblet, that’s not correct. Chris, one of my recs was written by a Stanford prof., and here I am. By the way, that’s “academy”. (Even talented programmers should use proper spelling in their applications. ; ) )

that doesnt make sense how could u get a TEACHER rec from a professor?

Because the professor TAUGHT me (mathematics) during a program I attended at Stanford. (Was that concept actually beyond your comprehension, or are you just kidding?) The teacher recommendation can come from anyone who has instructed you in an academic area for sufficient time, and in sufficient depth, to be able to assess your ability and potential. I’m sure quite a number of applicants to Stanford and its peer schools have profs supply recommendations, since it’s not that unusual these days to have taken college courses before high school graduation or to have attended summer programs taught by profs.
