Teacher recs (URGENT)

My dream school is Duke and I am a current applicant.

However, I just noticed on the Application Portal that they want both recs to come from teachers who taught you in academic subjects junior or senior year. One of mine is senior, the other sophomore - but I have worked with him in a school club through all of high school.

I'm now terrified this can jeopardize my application. Should I let it be? Or should I call them immediately and let them know that I can have a junior teacher rec immediately in to them? (saved on common app website). would it be too late for them to consider this?

I really appreciate any help.

I would contact them on Monday. Since so few students get admitted to Duke it might make a difference. If you dont get accepted you dont want to have to wonder if it was because of your letter of recommendation. Did you get a likely letter? If so it obviously did not matter.

of course i didnt get a likely letter haha i wouldnt be on here if i did.

should i email them immediately or wait to call them monday so i dont have to give my name. either way i think they’ll eventually find out…

It shouldn’t be a problem. I had a sophomore and junior teacher write me recs.

and you’re a current duke student…plumdum, you have no idea how much you made me feel better. may i ask, were you an outstanding applicant in any way?

^^^^ don’t they only send likely letters to atheletes? I dunno, my knowledge of likely letters is significantly lacking.

I had the same exact situation. Sophomore AP Calc teacher and debate coach. I got in ED. Don’t worry, just relax. Small things like this are NOT going to be the difference between getting in and not.

Since the teacher still knows you and has worked with you since your sophomore year, it’s unlikely that it’ll make a difference.

haha thanks shark. with 29,000 applicants fighting for 1100 remaining spots, i feel like they’ll look for ANY reason to reject me.

but i appreciate the optimism :)
