Teacher recs? What?

I was under the impression that U of W didn't need teacher recommendations. Don't they just give you a counselor recommendation form after you applied online? I'm not sure what U of W wants.

Look here:

<a href="http://www.admissions.wisc.edu/freshman/apply.php#howToApply%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissions.wisc.edu/freshman/apply.php#howToApply</a></p>

"Letters of Recommendation. We would like to see at least one recommendation from someone who can attest to your academic ability (i.e., classroom skills, knowledge, and work ethic). Other recommendations might come from an employer, clergy, research mentor, or coach. Remember that quality is better than quantity—a total of two or three is sufficient. We do not have a recommender or teacher evaluation form to be completed. Your letters of recommendation can be submitted on letterhead, plain paper, stationary, etc."

So, athough a rec is not required, I have read on this board that it really is a good idea to include one.

Agree with above. Sending in optional materials- letters of recommendation and an essay can help.
