When's the best time to give teacher recs to your teachers? I assume it's better to wait until late November or early December? After all, with school just starting the teachers really don't know their students yet.

I gave my recs to my teachers the week before Thanksgiving. I figured that after three months, they would know me well enough. Also, I thought it might be easier for them to take a look at the recommendations during Thanksgiving break, since they don't have classes to worry about. Most of my teachers finished and mailed out the recommendations before winter break began, which is mid-December in my area.

If I remember correctly, schools request that you wait until mid-November (at the earliest) to give out the recommendations. You might want to give them out before Thanksgiving break in case your teachers want to write it over break. I would give it out early December at the latest. You might want to include a sheet that lists your interests, accomplishments and awards in academics, ec's, the arts, sports and/or community service. This will help the recommender know a little more about you. You will need to compile this information for your applications anyway. Good luck!
