<p>A friend just told me you should only ask for recs from teachers you had Junior year -- is this true? I want to ask a teacher from Sophomore year and one from Junior year -- will that be ok?</p>
<p>I heard junior year has more effects.... unless it's a special circumstance, and you hit it on particularly well with your sophomore teacher, and you are 100% that that person will say amaaaaazing things about you that others will unlikely to say.

<p>They usually ask for a teacher from junior or senior year. Unless they state it explicitly, I guess you could pick a teacher from sophomore year but they're really looking for a reference from someone who taught you recently, and a junior/senior year teacher is in a better position to comment on you academically than a sophomore year teacher.</p>
