<p>I'm going to be applying ED to wharton or columbia. I was just wondering, how important are teacher recs? I have a lot of teachers who think i am smart, but i dont have ANY teachers who really love me :(. How much of an affect do you guys think this will have?</p>

<p>teacher recs give perspective to your classroom demeanor, it will help but should be damaging.</p>
<p>Last month I attended a talk on "What elite colleges are looking for" given by the AO of a top LAC. He listed in priority: HS record (course load and gpa), test scores, ECs, and then teacher/GC recs. Nobody can tell you how much teacher recs will affect your admissions chances, and if they say they can, they're lying. Spend your time on the things you can control, like your grades and constructing a realistic list of schools, the rest is out of your hands at this point in time.</p>
