I am just wondering, what specifically do colleges like about them? My school gives us a "customized" rec report to give to the teachers. It asks them questions about us. Some of the questions deal with academics. Like is this student in the top 5% of the class, or the top 50 %? If a teacher puts down an average percent, not near the top, but not near the bottom of the class, but highlights my personality and attitude will this help? I have not seen my teacher recs, but I am guessing that she does not put me as a top percentage in her class. However, I have a really good relationship with her. We always "kid" around with each other, and I make her class seem more "lively". Will colleges like that, or will they look down on the fact that I am not a "top" student in the class.

It depends, to which colleges you are applying? They will always like to see postitive qualities of warmth and personality, but your grades (transcript) and teacher rankings will always hold the power to predict your academic capabilities.

Check the mid-50% percentile of SATs, and how many students are in the top ten per cent of their freshmen class (USNWR) to determine if you have a chance at a particular school.

Im not worried about my transcript, I am just saying I have always got a B in her class (even though she teaches advanced classes). She has been my math teacher for 2 years. I am alright at math, but I don't compare to the other highly gifted math students in her class.
