Hello,

I gave my teacher my information for the letter of recommendation over a month ago, and I talked to her yesterday and she still had not written it. I'm just worried that it is not going to get mailed in (she is snail mailing it), since there is no mail on Sundays. If it is postmarked November 1st, will colleges not accept my application?

Thanks!

What college are you applying to? I’m pretty sure that as long as it is postmarked by the date of the deadline it should be all right. But to be safe it wouldn’t hurt to call the admissions office and inform them of the situation. Shame on the teacher :|

Don’t worry, it’s even okay for your teacher’s recommendation letter to arrive slightly late. (In fact, I’m pretty sure my teacher last year submitted his rec letter to one of the schools late and I was still accepted anyway). Just make sure that you submit all of your parts on time. Colleges are usually a little more lenient on the part of the school, but not on you.

Also, your teacher seemed to have neglected the task of writing you a recommendation letter for a long time. Is she enthusiatic about advocating you to the school? If not, you may want to consider asking another teacher instead for the regular decision round.

@Calico: I’ve had this teacher for two years, and she knows me well. It is just her personality to procrastinate with things. She gives us assignments weeks after she says we will have them, etc.
