Is it okay to use teachers from sophomore year for college recs? I had a science teacher (Physics) back then that thinks I'm one of the smartest kids ever (even though I'm really not), and I've heard he writes good recs. I have kept in contact with him for the ~15 months or so that I haven't had him as a teacher, i.e. I see him in the hallway or near his classroom occasionally and we talk, and he's fairly up-to-date with achievements of mine since they sometimes appear in the paper and he asks me about them, etc. He wrote a recommendation for me last January that got me into a very prestigious summer program, if that's anything to add.
