My D (junior) is very interested in teaching high school when she finishes. Actually she would like to go back to her prep school where she could coach, teach and be a dorm head. I had heard that Yale has gotten rid of their undergraduate teacher’s prep program, Brown’s on line materials seem confusing-- is the undergraduate teaching education requirements on top of one’s major and if so can it be done in 4 years?

She loves Brown and would really love to be a Brownie (she would be a two sport varsity recruit) but teaching is very important for her. Does anyone have any insight??

This website is explanatory enough for me to get it: [Brown | Education](<a href=“Education | Brown University”>Education | Brown University)

“(UTEP) is not a concentration program” Meaning it’s on top of your concentration.

"you are eligible to be a UTEP as long as you can fulfill the course requirements for certification in your teaching field (e.g. English, history/social studies, biology, engineering/physics) and complete the required education courses (see list below). "

Take the courses listed.

“Content Area Requirements:
English: 8 courses
History/SS: 6 courses History/3 courses Social Studies
Biology/Science: 8 courses
Engineering: 8 courses”

So if you’re an English major you would already be completing these 8 English courses, etc. Or you could be crazy and complete English teacher requirements while doing another major. Since there are 8 English courses that’s one year at Brown (or less if you take 5 credits a semester). You’d then have three more years to complete your other major requirements, more or less. Timing doesn’t always work out so perhaps a bit less time to complete them but still.

Other major requirements are also found online.
