Is it true that Chicago REQUIRES a rec from a science teacher? My Junior Sci teacher (who will also be my senior science teacher) HATES ME and my freshman sci teacher doesn't even know who I am anymore!

Yes, Chicago requires one recommendation from an English/Social studies teacher and another from a Science/Mathematics teacher.

One must be from a science or math teacher:

huum... my computer science teacher wrote mine... so maybe if you can work around it doing something like this i dunno...

I mean, I wasnt trying to dodge a science teacher, it just so happened I had had him for three years, whereas all my other science teachers just had me for a semester...

Hum ... computer science ... what am I missing, felipecocco?

Yeah, that confused me, too.

I didn't know it could be from a math teacher too. Thanks!! :)

Felipecocco... computer science? I will let that one go...
AnaisV- I just want to let you know that you should think carefully about who you have write that letter. You want someone who really knows you and (believe it or not) most of your teachers would want to help you get into a top school like UChicago. That having been said, I know there are a few teachers I never would have asked for a letter.

A Dartmouth admissions woman gave some very good advice, I thought, when she said to ask for a letter from a teacher in whose class you might not have received the top grade. It is clear a teacher who gave you an A was pleased, whereas a C might need some explanation. The teacher can give insight into your work ethic and your effort.

Above all, where does your application need help? Are your science grades and math grades good?

its just that I took a restrictionist approach to the directions lol... I thought they prob. meant a science teacher like a physics, chem, bio teacher... that sorta thing

At Chicago both mathematics and computer science are in the Physical Sciences Division (PSD).

my statistics teacher wrote mine.

hahaha that's funny, I completely forgot about the math/science rec thingy when sending my application. I had my english lit and my history teacher doing them for me. Oh well, In got into Uchi anyways right? hehe
