Are most classes taught by profs or TAs? Are the TAs good? Do they (profs AND TAs)speak English well? If taught by TAs, is there even a prof available? Are there a lot of TAs at the upper levels as well as at the lower levels? Are the profs too busy with research to bother with those pesky students?

I had one TA-taught class at Rice - he was in his final year of a phd and the following semester got a tenure track job at Vanderbilt, so I'm not sure that that counts as a typical "TA experience."

The only TA's I've experienced so far (as a freshman) are those leading general chemistry labs, and ECON 211 where there is one section taught by a professor and the rest (3-4 other) of the sections are taught by TA's, simply because ECON 211 is one of the most popular courses.

I would say that there's a very good chance there are TA's leading your particular lab group (but with a professor supervising it).

But other than that, all of my classes have been taught by professors.
