<p>My school only has a couple of AP courses, but I really want to take more (and I know I can handle it). Would they allow me to take an AP exam, if I did not take a class on it, but was self taught?</p>

<p>My son taught himself 4 extra subjects and took the AP tests at his school along with his official class AP tests. The tests had to be special-ordered by his high school 4-5 weeks ahead of time, however.</p>
<p>As far as I know, you can take any AP test regardless of if you have taken the class at your school (at least that’s what my counselor has told me)</p>
