tech help

i am sending my missing financial forms as pdf files to colleges. But due to large size 5MB+, they r not being sent. Can anyone help how to send large files in excess of 5MBs as an email attachments. Please help.

Note: I use Gmail.

gmail allows upto 20 MB of file size to be sent as an attachment..since you are being unable to send means that the person you are sending to doesn't support that file size....
some alternatives
- compress the file using rar or zip ( wont help much)
- use sites like yousendit, mailbigfile which gives you a download link for the file ( not suggested as the method is so informal)
- Print and fax the material to the concerned office ( recommended)
- Ask the college for alternatives

Do you have a program that actually creates PDFs? If so, you should be able to compress the pdf-file either by compressing the pdf itself or by compressing the file that you create the pdf from. That is very easy if you start out with images (e.g. scanned imagines of your financial records). For example, an entire page of text has an acceptable quality as a 200KB jpg-file (unless it contains 4-point font) and making a pdf out of it should not be adding a lot to the file size.

On the other hand, you could also split the document up into two or three smaller parts and e-mail them separately. But that would also require a program that can create and/or edit PDFs.

The alternative would be to fax or e-mail the documents, as san123 has already suggested.

thanks for ur help. I think fax would be the best option.

Split the file. Make individual files for each page. That should do the job. You are not being able to send the files because when you attached them they were not uploaded fully.
Another option: Go to a cyber with good connectivity. Try uploading there. It might work.

Maybe upload it somewhere and send a link. You got hosting space anywhere? But sending rapidshare and yousendit links would be obnoxious.
