Tech looks at E+M+E/W, right?

I know some colleges do not consider the writing portion of the SAT and the E/W section on the ACT. However, I've heard that Tech looks at all three sections and uses the best scores from the sat/act to consider an applicant. I just want to make sure this is true? Can anyone confirm this? And also, while your at this thread, does anyone know what a 30 E, 29 M, and 31 E/W convert to for tech? haha sorry; i've created a thread already for this topic but I didn't get any conclusive answers answer.

thanks!

oh and also, i submitted my math level 2 scores to tech, I know tech doesn’t need them but do they consider/look at them if it was provided?

Yes, GT does use E, M, and W ONLY. 30 E would be a 670; 29 M would be 650; 31 E/W would be 690. Overall, this is a 2010, which is very good. These are similar to my scores, Eagles! Tech also says that you can submit SAT 2 scores, but they truly do not look at/consider them for admission; they are only used for advanced placement if admitted. Hope that kind of clears up your questions. :^D

Plus, GT Admissions said that they use the following website:

<a href=“Academic & Student Affairs Handbook | University System of Georgia”>Academic & Student Affairs Handbook | University System of Georgia;

thank you so much! if u don’t mind me asking, what was ur GR gpa? I’m OSS so this whole system is a little different to me and I’m trying to guage where I should be. I cant wait till march 18th! ahhhh

My GT GPA was 4.216. And good luck, I’m excited for you! Let me know when you get in lol.

hey majord14, I got another quick question.

I took the SAT once and got a 680 on the Math. do you happen to know if tech would use that 680 as my math score and then recalculate my ACT to SAT. so using your numbers it would be 670+680+690 = 2040…

and thank you for the wishes, with my horrendous GPA (GT gpa = 3.5) and pretty ****ty sats of 2020…I’m praying i get a summer offer or even waitlisted.

ALSO: when i calculate my GT gpa do i include high school courses i took in middle school (algebra 1 & french 1). and do any of you guys happen to know if tech breaks down the gpa by subject (i.e: looking at math courses gpa, sciences courses gpa…etc)???

I am really sorry about asking so many question, haha its just that admissions is only 2 more weeks away and I’m soooo nervous (eventhough I don’t know why…i will be rejected :(

Tech would use 680. They take the highest scores of SAT and ACT.

If the middle school courses you took are on your high school transcript, then yes, GT would use them to calculate your GPA. If they are not on your hs transcript, then no, and you should have mentioned them in the Special Circumstances area of the GT App. And, I have not heard of Tech breaking down GPA by subject.

thank you majord for such prompt replies, it really helps having someone to talk to who has already gone through this process.

I was wondering on a strictly test scores standpoint how do i fare for undeclared science at tech? with a 3.5 GT GPA, 11 APs, 2040 SAT (670 CR, 680 M, 690 W), and an ACT essay grade of 11/12. Do you think this would be an rejection or maybe a waitlist OR MAYBE a summer offer (this would be awsome!!)? I understand that these chances are kinda dumb, but I just wanted to get opinions from ppl. you can be completely honest (haha i know my stats suck).

Bump
10 char

Honestly, I can see a summer offer. Though, the GPA is below the average incoming freshman’s, your SAT is average, and ACT is very good. If your extracurriculars standout, then a summer offer is very likely. But if not, then there may be disappointment. However, with your rigor, scores, and hopefully a decent essay, this all should overshadow your GPA. Your GPA is a lot like my ACT.

I had a 33 E, 28 M, and 30 E/W…Math is sad I know. Despite that, I had 4.0 UW and I told you’re my W GPA earlier, 8 APS (some on virtual high school) because my school only offers 4. But, the passion that I showed through my extracurriculars and essay resulted in me becoming a Yellow Jacket and one of this year’s PSP finalists. So, in spite of my low test scores, GT saw drive in me, and that is what’s going to get you in Eagles! I truly wish you the best in your wait for a response!!!

This below information is directly from the GT admissions message boards:

"We only consider ACT math, english, and english/writing scores for freshman applicants. We never review or consider the ACT science or reading scores for admission.

The mid-50% range for scores is based on the average of the math, english, and english/writing scores only."

Using the last statement, I looked up the accepted students range and found the accepted range ACT to be 27-32.

My ACT scores (30,29,31) average out to be a 30…which places me right in the mix.

Also found this:

“Hey Jessica, we do not calculate middle school grades into our GPA calculation. In addition, we only use the grades from Freshman to Junior year because many of our applicants actually apply prior to the start of thier Senior year.”

So, in fact they DONT consider middle school grades…

So now this makes my GT gpa a 3.56 so a 3.6ish (haha rose from a 3.5) and my ACT places me right in the mix of things.
