bump~ 10char

Texas Tech, by virtue of its football program, is probably the best known. However, despite its name, it is not the top engineering college in Texas (UT, A&M, Rice, possibly UT-Dallas are stronger). I’d say they are fairly equal, reputation-wise, so look at other criteria (how much snow do you want?) when making your decision.

Thank you, firefly!

Maybe a warmer place is more suitable for me. Do you know how’s New Mexico Tech’s reputation in that region including Texas and Arizona? Is it a well regarded school?
Are there any similiar schools, in terms of academic strength and reputation?

bump again~

My vote for best would be Ill. Ins. of Tech.

Why? - Connections to Chicago, and it’s a top-100 national Uni.

To some extent, I think the answer is “it depends”. It depends on where you want to work after graduation–for example, if you want to work in MO or nearby states, the MO- Science and Tech aka MU-Rolla has an excellent reputation. Are you interested in a particular industry? Or a particular field that offers more courses at one of the schools?

I think I would worry less about “overall reputation” and look at your own criteria–location, field strength, industry placement record, course availability, as well as the cost to you (scholarships, OOS-tuition fee waivers, etc.)
