Would it be more useful to have an iPhone or an iPod touch?
iPhone's are good when off campus, but iPod touches are good on campus, and most people don't go off campus that often. Also, they don't have the data plans that an iPhone has.
What do you all think?

Also, Mac vs PC.
What is your opinion on what is best at boarding schools and why.

I have both and iPhone and iPod Touch. If you do not already have an iPhone, I would suggest just to have the iPod. There is no point to get an iPhone if you already have a normal phone.

I would choose Mac, but that just because I love my own. I do know that most boarding schools have Mac Labs now, but there really is no “better” choice. I know some schools also install anti-virus software and Microsoft office for you like Choate on your laptop.

Not all schools “prefer” macs. Groton for one issues ALL kids with a Dell loaded with school specific programs so check with your school before purchasing a laptop

well, I am pretty sure I could get either. I thought the iPhone would be better for me because my 3-year old phone is dying a slow and painful death, and my 4-year old nano does not meet my needs that much.

If this makes a difference, Exeter dorms don’t have wireless (unless you buy your own wireless router to plug into the network), so you’d have to go to the main buildings to access the internet on your Touch. If you’re an athlete, you’ll be on a bus fairly often going to games/meets, and kids go into town a lot (the coffee shop does have wireless).

okay. that is helpful classical mama.
Those dorms really should get wireless though.
