Technically Lied about Attending a Community College on Freshman Application??? (Please help)

Greetings!

For the past several months, I was enrolled in a University Physics course at my local community college. However, yesterday (2 days before the start of course), I was dropped because of a payment failure that no one was aware of. Nearly an hour later, the course filled up, and the department at the college cannot do anything about the situation. I’m essentially panicking, because, while I was enrolled, I put this on approximately 8 applications, including my dream school (UCBerkeley). Most likely, these colleges are going to want to see my transcript from the college at the end of the year, which I cannot provide them.

As I remain desperate and anxiety-filled, can someone please give me advice on what to do? I’ve already called and emailed Berkeley to explain the situation, and they said they might have already judged my application. Nonetheless, they said they will note this, but I am not entirely sure if this going to ruin every other college application. I am not sure if I need to email every single college I applied to in order to explain the situation as well.

If I were you, I would call each school. If what you are describing is accurate, you didn’t “technically lie.” But it IS your responsibility that payment wasn’t made - you should always get a receipt or confirmation number when you make a payment.

If it was me I would just send a email to whatever colleges you are applying to, thank them for their time this busy season, explain to them what happened, and ask for them to note it on your application. I do not feel they will penalize you at all because you had the intention and were trying to make more out of your current situation but was unable to.

Yes, as a material element of the application you are obligated to contact each admissions office and inform it of the change in circumstances. No need for lots of drama in your written notice, just a simple statement that you fully intended to take the class but was unable to due to it being oversubscribed. Are you substituting another class or activity? That would be helpful to mention!
