Sounds like californians and Hollywood stars rejecting US dentist and doctors to go to Mexico for dental and lippo suction.

Because the best doctors only come from Harvard...

Yes, it's just like that. <rolls eyes=""></rolls>

How is the program director of the university Division of Neurosurgery at Duke comparable to Mexican dental/lippo "doctors"?

The horror! He attended an awesome school in the Big 10.

I don't know. The issue here is health insurance, cost, and boldness.

Brain cancer treatment s a very specialized field. There's a relatively short list of hospitals that are true leaders/innovators in its treatment and research. Duke is one of them.

It's one of the names that comes up over and over again on the brain cancer forums I frequent (my dad has level IV brain cancer). Nobody is "settling" by going to Duke.

I don't think it's a matter of rejecting his MA docs, in fact he consulted WITH his medical team at MGA and it was decided that Friedman at Duke would be the best option to conduct this difficult surgery.
I wish him the very best.

Because Ted Kennedy is worried about health insurance and cost.

Poor fool probably got HMO and got stuck at Duke. =)

Yes, a family with a worth around $1 Billion needs to scrimp on care.

Come on people. I am talking about a reality here.

Duke University's Hospital is no where near the top when it comes down to Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Best Hospitals Search - US News and World Report

Should've went to Brigham Women, MGH, or Beth Israel, or better yet, the renown Johns Hopkins Hospital with chief neurosurgeon Ben Carson. <--- That man is God.

Yes, US News is always correct.

US News is just a source that collects data and pools them in such a fashion that it is presentable to the general public.

The information given from US News comes from medical professionals and experts in the medical field.

So in retrospect, US news is as correct as the next medical professional in line wants it to be.

What better source do you have that says Duke's neurosurgery program is worth going to?

I'd just like to add that Dr. James Andrews, the most renowned sports medicine doctor in the world (If you hear that an athlete is injured, he always sees Dr. James Andrews) attended Louisiana State for undergrad.

What does this have to do with the topic at hand? Nothing really, but oh well.

but yea, if i could pick anyone to cut me open, it would be ben carson

God bless Ted and the doctors at Duke. I wish him well.

I don't understand the point of this thread.
