Teen mother looking for schools to apply to

Thank you for the update! That is a fabulous outcome. What are your child care plans for the fall?

@carachel2 I originally applied as a neuro major in the College of Natural Sciences but since I hadn’t been accepted into my major yet, I switched to nursing. I was accepted in the last wave!

@siliconvalleymom I have an application on UT’s childcare waitlist, and I’ve talked to people there and I expect my application to go through for this fall. Also, my ex (my baby’s dad) is most likely going to St. Edwards university nearby.

@alislauren15 --YES!! Congrats!! The acceptance rate was 6% to UT Nursing!! WTG.

I hope you find a faculty there who will work with you and support you. And I hope your family supports your decisions and endeavors as well. I think I speak for a lot of us here when I say we wish you ALL the best and please find the time every now and then to log on and let us know how things are going.

@carachel2 I didn’t know that!

Thank you so much for your kind words :slight_smile:

Rooting for you, dad and baby! Would love to hear fro time to time how things are going.

Do you know which UT apartment you’ll be staying at? (I’m going to UT next year too!)

Congratulations! Thank you so much for letting us know. Rooting for you :slight_smile:

@alislauren15 Congrats and best of luck with you and baby. Hope everything will go well for you in austin.

I don’t know anything about schools in the area where you’re looking. But I did want to tell you I think you are handling a tough situation very well. I join all the others who have wished you well. Good luck!

@curlypie99 I’ll message you privately

I once knew someone who was a teen mom and then married and had several more children. She was pregnant with her 4th or 5th by the time she finished her surgical residency. So, if you ever decide you do want to try for med school, it’s not impossible, but it would require an immense amount of energy on your part and as much family support as you could muster. And it’s certainly not unheard of for nurses to go back to school to become physicians, if they are intellectually better suited for that role (as I suspect you may be). Best of luck!

Just popping in to say that I am really rooting for you and very impressed with how you have navigated all of this. i have no doubt you will be amazingly successful as a mom, a student and in your career.
