I think I mentioned how I brush my teeth after every meal and stuff like that, but today, while at the dentist, I learned that I have calculus build up and it's at fast rate... and my aunt has this too so I'm guessing it's hereditary. But I'm only 16 which is the embarrassing part.

Do you think that this problem is too young to have? I think it is. Now, I have ugly teeth... :( The dentist notice this on 5 teeth, so it shouldn't be a big problem, but this gave me a big wake up call.

Do you floss your teeth?

okay i have been brushing my teeth once per week or less this year. but flossing more regularly than that. nevertheless my teeth are better than they ever have been, which is logically attributed to my minimal consumption of carbohydrates.

so that is one extreme solution - adjusting your diet so it is low carb (paleo and keto diets would both serve that purpose and are both widely practiced for health benefits).

before, when i was stupid and sugar-sweetened juice and ate sweet things i always had new caries at check-ups and mysterious tooth pains.

@cchanged yeah, not as much as I’d like to. I would say once a day.

@Bassoonapus This isn’t a joke. Sorry. I don’t anyone else my age who has this problem, so I worried a little bit. I don’t get why you always have to have a smart remark about everything. So yeah, :)

Get one of those metal tooth picks that dentists have. You can buy one for a few dollars. I have three because I love those things. First, brush. Then, use the pick to dig around your teeth and in-between your teeth. You’ll be amazed at how much crap you can dig out, even after brushing. I can pick for 30+ minutes. Those picks beat the crap out of flossing any day. Flossing? Give me a break. When was the last time your dentist flossed your teeth? Picks all the way.

I think this is what Bassoonapus was referring to. I’m guessing it’s a typo?

@Ice

Cool, I’ll keep that in mind :)

@stressedouttt

Calculus, or tartar is hardened plaque.

If you want, you can but a WaterPik. They are moderately pricey (I think I got mine for ~30 dollars), but they are extremely helpful. They shoot jets of water into your mouth and if you maneuver the nozzle around, it can pick out a bunch of food. Just make sure you do this over this sink.

Like someone said, you might want to limit the carbs and sweets you consume. That way, you won’t have to worry about caries either ^_^

My dentist actually tells me to brush for 2 minutes for each arch of teeth, so you may want to try that too?

^ Thanks, I’ll try that :)

omg i’m sorry! I thought the calculus you were referring to was math! I couldn’t understand why everyone was being so serious about it, lol

Don’t snack in between meals. Eat only during meal time. Drink water.

But snacking is good for you it keeps those pounds off

Niquii: Eat at about the same time everyday and the same amount will help you keep those pounds off.
I think you are refering to eating smaller portions in every few hours, not eating snack before or after you had a meal or whenever you crave for it (which is what I meant by snacking).

Oh whoops silly me! That’s what I was thinking

No. Calculus is hardened algebra.

^ Lol, that was pretty funny.

Good one IceQube(:
