I will have to do phase 1 at CalSO since I am an incoming freshman. As an EECS major, I wish to take the following classes in the fall of my freshman year:

Math 1A
CS 61A
Astronomy 7A
A humanities class

What is your recommendation in deciding classes for Phase 1?

Thanks

If Astronomy is just an extra class you’re taking I’d suggest taking C10 instead with Filippenko. He’s a really good professor.

Superb class - every fall - make sure it is him teaching

As superb as that class is, according to this handbook, section 2.2 contains a list of science classes I am allowed to take as electives. Astronomy 7A is on the list but not C10.

The Handbook: (see section 2.2)

In terms of Phasing, what should I do?

Thank you…

well normally you would pick the classes that are in high demand first and/or small and limited. math 1a is pretty popular. what i recommend you do however, is to check schedule.berkeley.edu to see the availability and class size of each class. that way you can see what fraction of the classes are already taken. the ones that are filling up faster, you should take first. This website may also be pretty helpful to help you schedule and plan out your classes.

good luck
