I am just wondering.. When is your Phase II? I am a senior and my date is on the 26th. Seems kind of late to me..

Also, I want to drop a class and add another one. However, the class I want to add has available spots open but their are people on the wait list. What's up with that? I don't want to drop the class I have registered and not be able to add the class I want.

how are you still asking any of these questions as a senior.

[li] yeah it’s pretty late. cool story.
[/li]

[li]there are a couple reasons that could happen: [/li]1) it’s summer and the department just doesn’t give af. no one over in the dept is running around making telebears their #1 priority over summer school paperwork or vacation. plus, phase I is long over, no rush until phase II.
2) class enrollment is often partitioned into categories (e.g. “class level of at jr,sr”; “class entry code”; “students with a major of ____”; etc.) and each category has a varying number of seats allocated to it (e.g. maybe the department wants to reserve 20 seats for special circumstances [graduating seniors, grad students, ambitious underclassmen], and 80 seats for upperclassmen), so the upperclassmen spots may be taken (hence a waitlist) but there are still spots for special circumstance students (hence vacancy on the roster)
3) lag in telebears system (updates a certain time during the day)

[li] you know the telebears game by now, you can’t get the class you want without shedding a little blood first… the class you’re registered for will probably clear up 2-4 weeks into the semester. it sounds like the class u want to add may be more popular and harder to ‘sneak into’ the long way. better to get in on the waitlist asap.
[/li]

crowslayer and caiacs might be my favorite posters on here. Dreamcrushers and reality-checkers lol. Especially since Batman left =(

OP, you asked a question that has been asked twenty times EVERY single telebears on this forum. And as a fourth year, this phenomenon commonly happens in the upper division classes we must take, so you should have encountered it before and known what happened. You are asking a question a first or second year normally asks. Thus, crowslayer was criticizing your lack of insight on this matter.

I got July 23rd as a junior transfer. Is that good or bad?

I hope my lack of insight is excused as I have never attended cal and I don’t know if posts from 2009 on this matter are equally accurate. I had my Phase I appointment on July 5th and most classes were full(at least with waitlist) already. Would it be foolish to believe that I can still find popular classes on July 23rd or do I have to start looking for a random filler class to reach 13 units and try to get into desired classes once the semester started?

If you want to slap me with some link to an older thread about a guideline on how to get into classes after Phase II, I will not object! :)
