Tell me about Destination Gainesville?

So a month or two ago I received an invitation to my local Destination Gainesville event and I'm wondering what exactly do we do at it? I tried looking it up on the internet and a few places are saying it's mainly for African Americans... is this true? because well I am not African American nor is my dad who is coming with me so I'm wondering if we would end up being the odd ones out... haha. I read that this was a way to meet people in my area who also got admitted to UF and to get more information, so this would seem like it's for all races, wouldn't it?

is anyone else going to their local destination Gainesville?

That’d be a switch, now wouldn’t it? ;)

Hahah, well yeah that would be kinda awkward being there. It really does sound like it’s for “people of color”. I guess I got invited by mistake then? Should I not go now? haha

i’m going, but seeing as I’m an African American i’m not much help huh? :p

It isn’t just African American people who are invited.

I got invited but i’m not African American at all… haha.

It looks like it is sponsored by UF and the UF Association of Black Alumni, but it does not say it is only for minorities…so there must have been something in your app that suggested the event might be beneficial for you.
