Planning a tour of schools in the Virginia area. Looking at a map, I notice James Madison is there. I know nothing about the school. Please tell me why I might want to visit. What are they known for? What are their peer schools? What might be considered a typical student? Any pros and cons would be appreciated.

I am in Virginia. Neither of my kids went there but they know plenty of kids that did. Everybody seems to love it. It has a good business program, I believe. We did look into it for my younger son for their Integrated Science and Technology program and their fairly new engineering department but he decided on VT. It is a state school but does seem to have quite a few students from other states(NY,NJ, MD, PA). It seems pretty popular these days. It is considered a very good regional school. It is known for friendly, happy students.

Anyone else?

One last bump…

My daughter’s friend goes there and loves it. She is applying to the business school and joined a business fraternity ( coed).
