can anyone describe to me the type of school that lafayette college (easton, PA) is? academics, campus life, student body, etc?

i'm hispanic, from ny and plan on studying either international affairs or ecnomics & buiness at lafayette.

A bit preppy and very athletic.

S is going to Lafayette for a recruiting visit next weekend. I'll let you know what he reports. He is pretty picky, but thinks the academics are better than the public perception. He has been to several lectures at the school. The athletics get a lot of focus, but many of the teams aren't stellar because Lafayette is recruiting against the Ivies. Easton isn't much of a town, but the campus itself is beautiful. Good access to Phila and NYC. Also- the Poconos are really nice and you are right there!

Our daughter will be applying to Lafayette IF her SAT scores come up just a bit. The town is small, but quaint. It is the home of the Crayola "Factory" (not really the factory, but that is where the tours are...it's a LOT of fun) and the National Canal Museum (in the same building as the crayons). The college is up on a hill overlooking the town. DD feels that the sciences are strong there, plus they have a good music program that welcomes players from all majors. DH says that the engineering program is well regarded. That is the draw for DD.
