Hey guys,
I am a business major (freshman)(non-direct admit) and my international orientation is about to begin. I came up with my ideal courses for Kelley admit next year, and I was wondering about getting some advice from others:

Busx100 Intro to business

M119 brief survey of calculus

English that will be counted as W131 ( Im not sure what to take …

C190 Intro to Media

M118 (already taken in high school)

I only came up with 4 courses since I will be rusing for a fraternity…
If you have any think to point out, feel free to do so and thanks.

I've taken all of those courses but C190. All of them are pretty easy (some more than others). M119 might give you a small workout if you have never had a calculus class before. I would take W170 instead of W131. W170 is a writing class with one theme assigned for the duration of the semester (i.e. mine was 'the contemporary distopian graphic novel,' aka read comics and write papers about them). You might consider adding A100 to your schedule.

thans for your reply..
I will consider taking W170., But you think it will be okay if i take A100 in my 2nd semester along with Computer in Business?
is A100 required for Kelley admission? It didn't seem to be appeared on the admission requirement list..

any other concerns please let me know ; it will be a great help.

I always suggest that people take A100 early so that:

(1) They can retake it if they have problems with it the first time around, and
(2) So that they can get it out of the way early since it is required to be finished prior to taking A201 Financial Accounting or A202 Managerial Accounting--and you don't want to have to take both of those at the same time (and you'll need to have both done to apply for I-Core, which you'll want to take your junior year).

However, there is an advantage in taking it second semester instead of first semester as you are doing only if:
(1) You can get all the courses done that you need in order to apply for admission to the business school in the first semester (which you are doing based on your current schedule), and
(2) You are transferring in enough credits (either at junior college or through taking AP courses, etc.) so that when adding these credits to the courses you take first semester you have a total of at least 26 units (which is what the Kelley business school requires in order to apply to the school), and
(3) You get your application in to the business school by November 1st for admission in the spring semester.

What this would allow you to do is not have either the Computer class or the A100 class even considered in the business school admission decision.

If this is not your case, however, that is if you are not transferring in or getting AP course credits worth 11 units (to add to your 15 units you are taking), then I would suggest you take A100 first semester rather than take both it and the K201 computer class at the same time.

Unless I'm mistaken, among those getting in to Kelley as non-direct-admits this year were at least 300 people;--so let's try to be a bit more supportive on here--especially when it comes to supporting incoming freshmen.
