I visited NC state in July but the tour guides didn't do a good job and weren't too excited about their university so I was wondering if anyone reading this could tell me about NC State. Like I hear that you have to apply to your college when you apply so does that mean they have an open curriculum like Syracuse or U Rochester does? Also, can freshmen have cars? whats Raleigh like? Are there any under 21 clubs? Is there much partying at NC State? How does the name carry outside of NC? I saw it was ranked 111. Does it have its own ROTC program? Things like that. Thanks in advance.

Another thing, I’m from the North and I know the NC is a bit different from MA particularly in the religion department. Would I be rejected by students based on the fact I don’t believe in a God? I know the customs and such cause I go to a catholic school but I don’t practice.

NCSU is the largest u. in NC. My S graduated from NCSU two years ago. My H is also an alum. Both loved it. NCSU people seem to be pretty laid back/down to earth. Not at huge greek presence there.
No there is not an open curriculum. No, freshman can’t have cars on campus but there is a large privately owned parking lot very close to campus (easy walk) where freshman can rent a parking space for the year. S2 loved Raleigh. I believe there are under 21 clubs. Partying happens at NCSU just like any other big state u. Don’t know how to qualify “much”. It is whatever you want it to be. I don’t think the religion thing would be a prob. Football games in the fall are lots of fun. It’s a really big deal. I live in NC so don’t really know how those outside NC view NCSU. NCSU has ROTC for all branches (Navy/Marines, Air Force and Army). My S had a NROTC scholarship. Hope this helps.
