S is considering the IU Sport Marketing program. The interaction and required credits with Kelley are attractive as well. Can anyone share their experience in the program (current or recent past) in terms of opportunity for internships along the way and job placement after graduation? Have you received the internship opportunities you hoped for? Are the job options after graduation limited to the mid-west, or nationwide? How are the on campus job fairs and recruiting for this major? Thanks!
Hi, I am a high school senior interested in sport marketing/management, I’m not exactly sure what I want to do in sports but I know I want to work in the sports industry. I recently got into IU but I got in as a Kelley direct admit for marketing. IU is my safety school but if I were to attend there I would minor in sport marketing/management or double major if that’s possible. If I were her I would take the Kelley route, a degree from Kelley is much more valuable than a sport management degree from IU-their sport management program is not ranked up there with the best in the country. Also my aunt got her MBA from Kelley, she recently attended a networking event and someone she met who used to work for the Pacers said the Kelley route is better. I am not saying it’s a bad choice for her to do sport marketing, but I think Kelley is a better option. For example-I also applied to UM, and I applied for sport management there instead of Ross, it honestly just depends for the school.
@pschnee thanks, appreciate the feedback. I do realize Kelley holds more weight with employers. Will depend on final stats as to if direct admit to Kelley is feasible. Best of luck to you!!
